TOSSIT is a mobile app designed to simplify waste management in New York City by educating users on recycling, reuse, and donation practices. Through research-driven design, the app helps residents locate nearby drop-off and donation points, provides green living tips, and addresses common pain points like recycling confusion and missed garbage days.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Many New York City residents lack a clear understanding of proper recycling, reuse, and donation practices. This results in confusion, missed garbage days, improper waste disposal, and hesitation to donate due to trust issues with organizations, ultimately hindering the adoption of sustainable waste management habits.
DESIGN APPROACH
The design process followed a user-centered approach, starting with qualitative and quantitative research to understand residents’ behaviors, challenges, and motivations regarding waste management. Insights from surveys and interviews informed low- and high-fidelity wireframes, focusing on clarity, accessibility, and convenience. The solution was refined through iterative prototyping and usability testing, ensuring the app effectively guides users in recycling, reuse, and donation while providing intuitive navigation and relevant, location-based resources.
